Published: December 31, 2009

Phil Ruffin, owner of Treasure Island and co-owner of Trump International Tower, Las Vegas, has written a column for the Las Vegas Sun outlining his predictions for Las Vegas hotels. Among his thoughts:

  • By 2020, all room inventory will be absorbed
  • Fontainebleau and Echelon will be operational
  • A major resort will occupy 40 acres at Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard
  • Room rates will be substantially higher in 10 years
  • International traffic to Las Vegas will grow
  • Casino floors will be redesigned three or four times in the next decade
  • Downtown Las Vegas will be a "downscale operation"
  • Local market will continue to be strong
