The infinity Skypool has opened 52 floors above ground level in the GÅng bar at the Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, making it the highest pool in Western Europe.
The Skypool offers an escape for hotel guests by day, and when separation screens are drawn back at dusk, it adds to London’s highest bar, GÅng. Facing west across the city, the heated pool overlooks St Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye, and Westminster.
Designed by Andre Fu of Hong Kong-based AFSO, GÅng is inspired by the mythical aspect of dou-gong-a series of interlocking brackets that are used in historical Chinese architecture. Combining traditional Eastern design with modern Western glamour, a 50-foot-long paint scroll that seems to float above the Skypool.
