Like its sister location in New York, RH Minneapolis, the Gallery, is a striking departure from other retail outlets. With its imposing charcoal gray Venetian plaster façade and glass and steel French doors that open onto garden courtyards and terraces, the Gallery resembles a contemporary Italian palace a lot more than a Minnesota showroom. But ultimately, the 60,000-square-foot, three-story structure set on two lush acres is a shopping experience, albeit a dramatic one, that seamlessly blurs the notion of home and hospitality.
On level one, guests walk through a 25-foot-high threshold of glass and steel into a central hall with 14-foot-tall ceilings. Here, inside barrel-vaulted passageways, gallery-like rooms illuminate RH Interiors collections. One floor above is RH Modern, a vast assemblage of furnishings, lighting, textiles, and accessories, as well as the interactive RH Design Firm & Atelier and RH Rugs salons.
Atop the third floor’s floating staircase is the rooftop restaurant, housed underneath an atrium and complete with a wine and barista bar. This skylit garden backdrop nods to grand European ones of yore, with trellised London plane trees, a gurgling water fountain, and retractable glass walls. Amid the dreamy mix of crystal chandeliers, lanterns, and sculpted evergreens are selections from the RH Outdoor collections, extending the store’s residential-meets-retail narrative.
