Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice has unveiled phase one of a multi-year renovation led by architect and designer Peter Marino.
Set on the edge of Giudecca Island with panoramic views of the Venetian Lagoon, Hotel Cipriani has served as a haven of cinematic glamour and relaxed luxury since its debut in 1958. The property’s legacy as a stage for the Dolce Vita spirit—hosting artists, actors, and global tastemakers—is central to Marino’s vision.
Reimagining Hotel Cipriani
The design concept draws on three artistic eras: Old Venice, expressed through architectural detailing and curated objets d’art; the cultural vibrancy of the late 1950s and ’60s, reflected in artworks that recall the golden age of the Biennale; and the dynamic energy of contemporary art and design, which infuses the hotel with a renewed sense of relevance.
The first phase of the renovation, launching with the hotel’s reopening this month, includes a refreshed arrival experience with a double-height, light-filled lobby adjacent to the original entrance, which retains its historic charm.
Thirteen guestrooms have been reimagined, including two expansive master suites—Serenissima and Laguna—that have been conceived as elegant Venetian apartments with libraries, dining areas, and sweeping lagoon views. Eleven additional suites and junior suites overlook the lush Casanova Gardens.
