The Hospitality Diversity Action Council (HDAC) has announced entrepreneur and community activist Jason Bass as the winner of its second annual Awards of Excellence program. The honor recognizes exemplary work by individuals and companies that are working to advance the hospitality industry through the promotion of diversity, inclusivity, and equity.
Among his many roles, Bass serves as the director of culture and impact at Hotel Revival in Baltimore, where he oversees cultural and community-focused programming. He received the ICON of Culture Award earlier this year from the Independent Lodging Congress (ILC) in recognition of his work at the hotel.
He has further contributed to the Baltimore community with the launch of the Night Brunch, a pop-up dining series aimed at dismantling racial and social barriers and building unity through music and food. The Night Brunch has also provided 2,200 meals to the West Baltimore community through its Night Brunch Summer Lunch program.
Bass’ boutique marketing firm, Kiss Tomorrow Hello, also maintains a robust client list that includes the Baltimore Orioles, Visit Baltimore, and the Dirty Habit DC restaurant. He previously served as cofounder and CEO of luggage brand Treason Toting Company for five years.
“Jason’s passion and commitment for digging into the real and critical issues surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion are clear from the work he has done at Revival Baltimore. He exudes a positive energy from the presence created through his social channels without even meeting him in reality,” says HDAC member and Denizens of Design principal Dyonne Fashina. “We are thrilled to honor him with this award.”
Bass, along with all of this year’s HD Awards winners and finalists, will be honored on June 7th during a ceremony at Cipriani South Street in New York. Purchase tickets now!
