HD Expo 2021 closed out with a slew of programming celebrating the future of hospitality.
The second and final day of the HD Expo + Conference in Las Vegas kicked off with the NEWH Young Entrepreneurs Breakfast, which spotlighted past and current HD Wave of the Future honorees as well as celebrated Michael Lekan-Kehinde, this year’s recipient of the $5,000 NEWH Harvey Nudelman Scholarship, sponsored by Fabricut Contract; and Leah Nganga, the recipient of the inaugural $5,000 Diversity in Hospitality Scholarship, a partnership between NEWH and the Hospitality Diversity Action Council (HDAC).
Additionally, Hospitality Design editor in chief and senior vice president of the design group at Emerald Stacy Shoemaker Rauen led the HD/ISHP Town Hall: Owners’ Talk Part II, where prominent industry leaders shared their outlooks for the industry in a town hall-style format. Bruce Ford, senior vice president of Lodging Econometrics, also returned for his annual presentation, revealing his forecasts and trends for the hospitality industry through 2022.
Sandler Seating took home the top prize for this year’s IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Competition, which honors projects debuting on the show floor. Fiandre and TURF Design were also among the winners.
To close the show, the HD Passport $5,000 Cash Giveaway was awarded to Sanna Tilley from V Starr.
HD Expo + Conference returns to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas April 26–28, 2022.
