Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has announced plans to dramatically grow its footprint with the addition of 88 international hotel properties this year. A total of 78 hotels have already been rebranded under the Sonesta banner, while 10 remaining units will join the brand’s portfolio by the end of March 2021.
The expansion will result in 49 Sonesta Select hotels; 32 Sonesta ES Suites; four Sonesta Simply Suites; two Sonesta Hotels & Resorts units; and one Royal Sonesta in Kaua’i, Hawaii. “Over the last six months, we have nearly quadrupled our presence in North America, added over 200 hotels to our national portfolio, and launched two new hotel brands: Sonesta Simply Suites and Sonesta Select,” says Sonesta president and CEO Carlos Flores. “This allows us to provide a greater variety of service offerings to meet the diverse and changing needs of today’s travelers.”
In addition to Sonesta’s debut in Kaua’i, the expansion will herald the arrival of the brand in Charleston, South Carolina and Boca Raton, Florida. The rollout also grows Sonesta’s reach in major U.S. cities, including Atlanta—where it will oversee 13 units—Boston, and Dallas-Fort Worth, which will each be home to a dozen Sonesta properties.
