Every fall, the global design community heads to Bologna for a glimpse of where ceramic tiles, architectural surfaces, and bathroom furnishings are headed next. From September 21st-25th, CERSAIE—the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings—will once again bring together more than 600 manufacturers and 100,000 visitors from 160-plus countries, offering industry professionals a first look at the materials, technologies, and ideas poised to influence hospitality projects in the years ahead.
Materials have always played a defining role in hospitality design, shaping the atmosphere, functionality, and overall guest experience of a space. From immersive interiors to seamless indoor-outdoor environments, innovations in ceramic and porcelain tile are creating new opportunities for designers through advances in scale, technology, performance, and application.

Across the exhibition halls, designers will discover solutions tailored to the demands of hospitality spaces. From large-format porcelain slabs and intricate mosaic and brick formats to porcelain furnishings, integrated washbasins, countertops, and outdoor paving systems, the breadth of offerings is extensive. These surfaces are engineered for high-traffic environments, combining durability, hygiene, and easy maintenance with the elevated aesthetics expected in today’s hotels, restaurants, resorts, and wellness spaces.
Advances in technology also continue to redefine porcelain’s potential beyond traditional floor and wall applications, introducing new possibilities for countertops, cabinetry, furniture, façades, and exterior environments. The material’s non-porous, heat- and scratch-resistant qualities make it a high-performance solution for creating cohesive, enduring design experiences across hospitality settings.
The exhibition also provides an early look at the design trends shaping future hospitality spaces. New collections embrace warm, nature-inspired color palettes; expressive metallic finishes; soft, desaturated neutrals; and increasingly sophisticated wood-look surfaces that bring richness and tactility to commercial spaces. At the same time, developments in manufacturing continue to push the boundaries of texture, scale, and integrated functionality, allowing ceramic surfaces and bathroom furnishings to play a more architectural role throughout a project.
Beyond product discovery, CERSAIE has become an important forum for industry dialogue. Programs including Building, Dwelling, Thinking convene internationally recognized architects and designers for insightful discussions on emerging ideas, projects, learnings, and best practices. This year, esteemed architect and Pritzker Prize winner Alejandro Aravena will present a keynote lecture on Thursday, September 26th, while the show’s Tiling Town program will once again offer live demonstrations highlighting the latest installation techniques for large-format surfaces and other technical innovations from professionals around the world.

The week will also celebrate excellence in Italian tile design with the announcement of the 2026 Ceramics of Italy International Tile Competition winners. The program honors outstanding projects from architects and designers around the world whose work demonstrates creativity, technical expertise, sustainable achievements, and innovative applications of Italian ceramic and porcelain tile.
