San Diego-based BASILE Studio has unveiled its design of the newest Puesto location. The 10,000-square-foot restaurant and brewery in the city’s Mission Valley neighborhood features a stylish interior concept crafted entirely of custom furnishings and fixtures.
“We ramped up our robotics lab and created three different LED light shows that are each unique in their own way—utilizing light from within or by reflection,” says principal and lead designer Paul Basile. “We built a gigantic liquor shelf system that lowers 3,000 pounds of alcohol at the push of a button along with integrated software that animates in a wave motion when not in use.”
BASILE Studio’s signature palette of natural materials—like walnut, steel, and brass—is paired with vibrant colors reminiscent of the artful flair of Mexico City. Ripe with focal points, the latest Puesto outpost welcomes guests with a kinetic chandelier composed of 20-foot aluminum tubes. Engineered in an animated wave pattern, the undulating light fixture complements steel rods that form an LED light show on a nearby wall. The hexagonal glass and brass liquor display casts the bar area aglow, accentuating the brass and walnut leather bar face, and a brass funhouse-style mirror punctuates the corridor leading to onsite restrooms.
