India-based design firm Exubia Studio has completed the colorful Cosmo Deli & Bistro Bar in Solan, India. Awash in vibrant pastel hues, Cosmo showcases an intimacy and authenticity gleaned from the design team’s first visit to Solan.
“The intent throughout the project was to wash anything and everything in the color,” says Exubia cofounder and principal architect Imaan Singh Bhullar. “The main inspiration behind choosing these colors was the soothing effect that these pastel shades imbued in the space.”
The “monochromatic mood” of Cosmo draws upon the energy of the bustling locale as well as the plains Solan overlooks. “We wanted to create a space that is very atmospheric,” Bhullar adds. Vitrified tiles adorn floors and walls echoing the color palette through paint, fabric, or tinted glass. Flora accents the interior, softening some of the more industrial elements of the clean and open design.
