Crane Club, a collaboration between chef Melissa Rodriguez and Tao Group Hospitality, has debuted inside the historic 85 Tenth building (originally constructed in 1913 as a Nabisco factory) in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
The restaurant’s interior design is also the result of a creative partnership: Susan Nugraha, who helms Tao Group’s in-house design team, teamed up with locally based Laseu Studio to craft an opulent narrative.
Stepping inside Crane Club
Hidden behind a grand host stand, Crane Club comprises a double-height main dining room and a separate, moodier bar room.
In the main dining room, floor-to-ceiling windows are draped in rich red velvet and cream fabrics, while curved booths and archways carve the space into intimate sections.
The dimly lit bar room features a striking 12-seat red marble bar, running nearly the full length of the space, which is adjacent to the dining room.
The décor also features rich materials, including red velvet upholstery and wallcoverings, smoked floors, herringbone floors, textured walls hand-brushed with gold leaf, and Art Deco touches that nod to the building’s storied past.
