KNEAD Hospitality + Design and architecture and design firm //3877 have debuted their latest F&B collaboration, Tex-Mex concept Mi Casa, in the Dupont Circle section of Washington, DC. The restaurant’s interior design echoes the aesthetic of coastal Mexican casitas—conveying a laidback ambiance. “Our goal is for guests to feel as if they are visiting their closest friend’s chic vacation home. The space is warm, welcoming, intimate, and relaxed,” says //3877 designer Meghan Scott. “The soft colors, warm lighting, and plush seating all contribute to a residential, bohemian vibe.”
The sultry urban oasis is heralded by a deep green floral mural that wraps the façade. Accents of lush tropical vegetation punctuate Mi Casa’s interior and exterior spaces alongside pops of color. Romantic string lights frame the restaurant’s wooden deck, where a soft muted palette evokes a modern bohemian ethos reminiscent of a modern getaway in Tulum.
Inside, a soft plaster host stand welcomes visitors and creates a visual narrative characterized by fluid forms. Micro pebble tiles and soft, creamy Caesarstone clad the restaurant’s bar, which is defined by rough chiseled edges. Broken tile flooring also pays homage to handcrafted artisanal work along with hand-hewn wood and textured tile, while a terracotta mural adorning the dining room complements soothing sandy hues and recalls sunsets or native plantings. Glossy chevron tiles and black mosaic pebble floor tiles enliven restrooms with a luxe flair as well.
