Tigre, a new cocktail lounge from the team behind award-winning oyster and cocktail bar Maison Premiere, recently touched down in Manhattan’s Lower East Side neighborhood.
To bring Premiere Enterprises’ latest concept to life, New York-based firm Studio Tre embraced a stylistic contrast of refined-meets-raw. The space, hidden behind an original graffiti-worn door, embodies the dichotomy of the Lower East Side—blending echoes of the past with the spirit of the future. The opulence of historical lounges is paired with a sophisticated cocktail menu that breaks away from the conventional American drinking lexicon.
In the entry hall, golden mirrors are framed by dark oak paneling and complemented by industrial chainmail curtains. The luxe aesthetic carries into the main room, which features gold ultrasuede walls, plush jacquard velvet banquettes adorned with emblematic tiger embroidery, and an eight-person horseshoe-shaped bar.
A more secluded back area, decorated with animal print rugs and sultry retro art by French artist Jean-Paul Goude, includes Tigre’s unique plush padded resting rails where wallflowers can enjoy the lounge’s vibrant scene.
A mirrored ceiling creates a kaleidoscopic effect, reflecting back rich jewel tones and a geologically inspired palette of the aubergine rug and copper tables throughout the bar.
