Luxury hospitality firm the Athens Group, in partnership with real estate firm Hatteras Sky, has debuted Asher Adams, Autograph Collection in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.
The adaptive reuse of the 1909 Union Pacific Depot Train Station retains the station’s Second Empire architecture, including original stained-glass windows and historic oil murals, while introducing a new eight-story guestroom tower.
Guestrooms at Asher Adams
Named after mapmakers John R. Asher and George H. Adams, the hotel—designed by architecture firm HKS and interiors by JNS Architecture + Interior Design—celebrates the golden age of train travel.
Each of the 225 guestrooms and suites reflect this era with vintage-inspired décor and contemporary amenities. In the original building, 13 suites blend exposed brick and picture frame moldings with elements like large soaking tubs and bright subway tiles.
The new eight-floor tower, located behind the historic depot, nods to the site’s legacy through restored dormers and round windows, paired with brass furnishings, rich textures, and warm tones.
An array of amenities
The hotel’s thoughtfully crafted dining options include Rouser, a New American restaurant with an open kitchen; No. 119, a whiskey-focused bar in the Grand Hall; and the Bar at Asher Adams, which channels the opulence of classic train travel. Additionally, café Counterpart offers a casual option for coffee and market items.
Event spaces at Asher Adams span 10,000 square feet, complemented by an additional 10,000 square feet of versatile venues, which all feature floor-to-ceiling windows that bask the rooms in natural light.
