The Four Seasons Hotel Boston has unveiled its latest renovations from San Francisco-based design firm BAMO, which first oversaw updates to the Back Bay property in 2002. Led by principal Michael Booth and senior associate Alan Deal, the upgrades serve as a modern tribute to New England style.
The lobby maintains its classic bold lines and warm ambiance, while showing off an updated sense of glamour with modern artwork and luxe new furnishings. From curvilinear sofas to an expansive banquette, seating vignettes promote engagement against the backdrop of a new art program that features locally inspired artwork.
Tranquil and spacious guestrooms exude luxury with elements such as a headboard crafted from whitewashed oak and clad with upholstered inset panels. Eclectic mirrors and artwork amplify a nautical theme while also recalling the natural offerings of Boston. Gold leaf prints that reference East Coast weather vanes are also installed across three variations.
“Our guestroom in Boston is an example of how a thoughtful use of color can be used as a backdrop to define how a space is used and experienced,” says Booth. “This palette creates a sense of place distinct from the public spaces, calm and restful, but also fresh and alive. The neutral, almost Old World textured plaster covering most of the room keeps everything fresh and allows the range of woods and color pops to be precise and crisp. Bold yellow upholstery sparks activity at the seating group. The focal wallcovering, a sort of colonial blue evoking old Boston, creates a cool balance and soothing influence when viewed from the bed.”
