The Faloria Mountain Spa, the “Pearl of the Dolomites,” has returned to the mountains of Italy following a renovation and expansion by architect Flaviano Capriotti. The refresh included the development of a new annex that accommodates 13 guestrooms, a new restaurant, and a spa that spans more than 10,700 square feet.
Designed to complement the surrounding scenery, the project is composed of several natural materials like Dolomia stone, brushed larch, and blue-green majolica tiles reminiscent of alpine ponds. Bright and spacious new guestrooms are outfitted with large windows that illuminate the residential-style spaces. Ten flowers commonly found in the Dolomites have also been reproduced in the design of each new upholstered headboard.
The new onsite spa boasts amenities such as an indoor pool, sauna, ice fountain, calidarium, vitality pool, relaxation areas, and private treatment rooms. The internal pool deck also embraces a backdrop of Mount Faloria, which is framed through the large skylight as well as the large glazing wall. An outdoor garden is also featured. Meanwhile, a glazed pavilion accents the new Faloria Restaurant. Showing off an original vintage ceiling of coffered larch, the restaurant infuses elegance with woven wicker paneling. A charming stube, a traditional Cortina dwelling place, also acts as a key focal point, constructed with antique woodwork.
The new volume developed during the expansion is home to a new lounge that features a bar and tiled stone inspired by traditional residential designs. Custom furniture also populates the interior, upholstered in warm wool, while a large wall of Dolomia stone adds a striking visual impact as it partitions internal spaces.
