Iconic Luxury Hotels has announced the opening of its newest property, the Mayfair Townhouse, in London. Located on Half Moon Street overlooking the city’s Green Park, the luxe new lodging concept occupies an address that served as the setting for Oscar Wilde’s play The Importance of Being Earnest. Updated by design studio Goddard Littlefair, the property accentuates its legacy through a refined palette that draws inspiration from the posh neighborhood and the characters who have called it home.
The redesigned structure evokes a contemporary Georgian style interwoven with English eccentricities that pay homage to the dandy lifestyle synonymous with Mayfair. The flamboyant aesthetic comprises an eclectic range of color and texture, as well as a curated art collection that climaxes with a peacock sculpture by Clarita Brinkerhoff made from 25,000 Swarovski crystals. A mischievous fox motif and abstract design interventions also abounds across the collection.
The Dandy Bar serves as a key social hub at the Mayfair Townhouse, as it conveys the hedonistic whimsy of the Victorian era. Design details include lampshades accented with silk pleated shades, velvet and leather seating, and marble, brass, and high-gloss timber finishes. The Lower Ground floor is also home to a library-lounge hybrid and dining room that simultaneously serves as a coworking area, social spot, or private meeting or event space.
