The Park Hyatt Toronto has reopened its doors following a multimillion-dollar restoration led by locally based Studio Munge. Founder and design director Alessandro Munge drew inspiration from the splendor of Canada’s seasons and natural landscapes to refresh the iconic urban retreat.
“It was essential for the hotel’s design to match the personalized and engaging service the Park Hyatt brand is known for, while infusing the property with a distinct local identity and an authentic sense of Canada,” Munge says. “Park Hyatt Toronto’s design achieves an elevated home-away-from-home experience with purpose and style as the landscape of Canada fully inspires our design narrative. The essence of Canada’s topography and diverse seasons are modernized throughout the hotel and enhance the guest’s journey.”
Bespoke details—from carpeting reminiscent of autumn leaves to expressive Canadian stone accents—complement the hotel’s collection of artwork by domestic and indigenous artists like Shannon Bool and An Te Liu.
Park Hyatt Toronto has returns with the new F&B concept Joni, a casual bistro reflective of the city’s vibrant artistic and cultural spirit. Located on the hotel’s 17th floor, the Writers Room rooftop cocktail bar has also been upgraded. A double-sided fireplace featuring raw slabs of native Ontario Eramosa stone splits the lounge into an intimate bar room and salon linked to an event space. Contemporary collages of midcentury prints by Douglas Coupland, an abstract landscape by Madison Van Rijn, and a gallery wall of archival imagery and memorabilia highlighting the property’s legacy further enhance the bar’s rich appeal.
A contemporary residential-style sensibility characterizes all 219 guestrooms, including 40 opulent suites. The presidential suite, located on the 14th floor, serves the crown jewel of the accommodations, boasting a welcoming foyer, chef’s pantry, dining room, study, and living room anchored by a stone fireplace with champagne metal accents.
A spa and wellness destination is slated to open onsite at a later date.
