The San Francisco office of Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) will oversee the design of the St. Regis Los Cabos, which is slated for completion in fall 2022. The 33-acre resort will feature a temporal design that evokes a sense of paradise with a modern ethos embedded in authentic Mexican style.
“The design of the St. Regis Los Cabos will create a modern inhabitation of the landscape, a sanctuary translated into a relaxed luxury that feels immersive for the guest,” says HBA San Francisco associate Cynthia Peller Hum. “So much of the property’s details are artisan inspired and an expression of our own journey through discovery in writing the narrative of this project’s design.”
Drawing inspiration from research trips to Oaxaca, HBA will blur the line between indoor and outdoor environments by reinforcing the surrounding landscape and greenery into sightlines. The firm will also collaborate with local artists to realize modern handmade furnishings layered throughout the project. Walls of sculptural ironwork in a filigree pattern will serve as key focal points along with a wood-beamed trellis that frames the signature St. Regis Bar. The specialty onsite restaurant will comprise a series of intimate dining rooms to accommodate a range of culinary experiences, including a lounge and show kitchen counter.
Macramé canopy beds will anchor guestrooms overlooking the sea, while terraces will be equipped with hammocks and daybeds for two. In the bathroom, cool tones will punctuate the space in the form of modern tiling.
“This project challenged us to innovate in creating a cohesive storyline that is a distinct and perceptive response to location, architecture, and client vision,” Peller Hum adds. “We’re quite proud of the many considered details that make this project luxurious and of the artisanal touches that feel so found and unique.”
