The Maidstone New Orleans has officially opened its doors, following the group’s successful revamp of the Maidstone East Hampton in 2024.
Originally built in 1956 as the Crescent Motel, a classic American motor lodge, the property has been transformed by New York-based Studio Tre into a lively retreat in the heart of NOLA’s Mid-City neighborhood.
The arrival experience
Guests are welcomed into a striking lobby, where a green maestro quartzite check-in desk is framed by floor-to-ceiling glazed porcelain walls. A verdant palette—echoing the sage olive tones of Spanish moss and the rust terracotta hues of magnolia leaves—brings the essence of New Orleans indoors.
The lobby’s Maidstone Lounge invites guests to sink into built-in banquettes with plush cushions, and sip drinks over mahogany coffee tables topped with marble. Overhead, decorative ceiling beams contrast the terrazzo flooring, while a leopard wool rug ties the space together with a touch of boldness.
Guestrooms at the Maidstone
The intimate hotel features 18 thoughtfully designed guestrooms and suites, including eight King Rooms, eight Queen Rooms, and two King Suites. Each accommodation has been extensively renovated with cork flooring, custom birch millwork, and furniture that blends rich stained hues with warm, natural textures.
The rooms are adorned with custom moon tapestries by Oaxacan textile artist Ismael Gutierrez Montano, as well as birch ply bed frames, built-in wardrobes, and rattan mirrors.
Outdoor spaces
The Maidstone’s gardens and grounds have also been completely reimagined, centering around a saltwater pool with a bathing deck and tiled wall fountain. Green and white striped solar shades sway in rhythm with the architecture, while vibrant textiles in indigo, chartreuse, olive green, and electric orange add pops of color.
Flanking the indoor Maidstone Lounge, the Moon Garden offers a sunken fire pit that glows with firelight as day turns to night.
