Thompson Hotels has officially open its doors in Palm Springs, California.
Spread across 10 buildings, Thompson Palm Springs features 168 bungalow-style rooms, including 18 suites, along with a 36,000-square-foot upscale boutique space with F&B options like the Lola Rose restaurant and a Hall Wines tasting room.
Designed by SMS Architects with interiors by B2 Design Co, the Hyatt property reflects a midcentury modern sensibility that integrates with its desert surroundings.
Exterior design
The exterior design was crafted as a gateway to Palm Springs’ Design District, with playful geometry and midcentury-inspired elements.
The hotel is elevated above ground-level retail, with guestrooms featuring private balconies or enclosed patios that invite ample natural light and offer views of the Palm Springs skyline.
Pathways between buildings are lined with lush flora and provide glimpses of the surrounding mountains and cityscape.
Inside Thompson Palm Springs
An eclectic interior design concept layers locally sourced vintage furniture, contemporary pieces, and handcrafted items from around the globe. The curated mix reflects the unique spirit of Palm Springs, interpreted in a fresh, symbolic way.
Soft stone, light woods, and neutral furnishings echo the surrounding desert landscape, highlighted by brass fixtures and vibrant colors found across commissioned artwork.
Each bungalow-style guestroom is designed for relaxation, complete with a custom curvilinear table, a gently curved sofa, and a high-gloss green lacquered mini-bar unit with an onyx top and brass details. Custom terrazzo-style tiles—with accents of soft pink, green, or tiger eye—complement the accommodation’s palette and warm lighting, while balconies open to stunning mountain views, enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.
