Virgin Hotels will continue its expansion throughout the U.S. with the launch of Virgin Hotels New Orleans this summer. Located in a new-build crafted by Mathes Brierre Architects and CallisonRTKL within the city’s Warehouse District, the forthcoming property features a design from locally based Logan Killen Interiors, which injects authentic New Orleans flair into Virgin’s visual identity.
“It was a very large leap for us to take professionally, having mostly residential design experience, but when opportunity knocks in the form of the Virgin brand, you just say yes,” says Logan Killen partner and lead designer Jensen Killen. “The trust they instilled in us to meet the particular challenge of creating a hotel that felt like New Orleans but carried the voice of the Virgin brand was inspiring, and ultimately led to a successful and vibrant space that we know New Orleanians and visitors alike will enjoy for years to come.”
Neighborhood-focused influences instill a sense of place across the Southern, residential-style interior design, which is accented by colorful tropical architectural motifs as well. Virgin’s signature Commons Club greets visitors upon arrival with a convivial F&B option, while the whimsical Funny Library Coffee Shop accommodates visitors with coworking space.
The property also features a 24-hour fitness center, more than 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, and is crowned by a rooftop pool and lounge on the 13th floor that overlooks the city skyline.
Ranging from 294 to 592 square feet, Virgin Hotels New Orleans’ 238 chambers are punctuated by a fresh and bright ambiance that showcases local artwork and Art Deco-inspired elements to evoke an Old World-meets-modern luxury aesthetic. The modular accommodations are equipped with a dressing room, which comprises a full vanity, makeup desk, extra-large shower, and a lounge, which is populated with a café worktable and a lounge bed. Richard’s Flat Penthouse, the 1,097-square-foot crown jewel of each property, boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a master bedroom.
