Following an extensive refresh of the former Sainte Claire Hotel, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has announced the opening of the Westin San Jose in Northern California.
“We are thrilled to debut Westin in San Jose, a significant market for the brand’s growth in North America,” says Bob Jacobs, vice president of brand management for Westin and Sheraton.
Built in 1926 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 171-room hotel is located in downtown San Jose near San Jose McEnery Convention Center, San Jose State University, and the Santana Row shopping and nightlife district.
The hotel’s guestrooms, corridor, lobby, and public spaces were renovated with original 1900s features, such as the ceiling molding, preserved. A subtle color palette and vertical garden help create the feeling of an oasis.
Adjacent to the lobby, Il Fornaio restaurant offers a private dining room, and more than 10,000 square feet of additional meeting and event space is also available, including the Grande ballroom, which features vintage 1920s chandeliers, wall sconces, mirrored walls, crown molding, and wood borders.
One of five new North American openings this year, the Westin San Jose is the brand’s 18th hotel to open in California.
