Island Hotel Newport Beach Unveils Renovations

Irvine Company Resort Properties has completed an 18 month, comprehensive renovation of the Island Hotel Newport Beach resort, located in Newport Beach, California.

In collaboration with San Francisco-based Brayton Hughes Design Studios, renovations were directed by the company’s in-house interior design team.

“Today’s traveler wants authentic, local experiences,” says Lindsey Ueberroth, president and CEO of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. “The newly transformed Island Hotel now meets that need with a beach-inspired décor, convenient yet sophisticated services, regional cuisine, and a lively coastal scene.”

The hotel’s 292 guestrooms and suites now feature a coastal-inspired color palette of aqua, orange, coral, lilac, and sage. The accommodations were also outfitted with upgraded fabrics, wood, marble, and California-inspired artwork.

F&B options include chef Marc Johnson’s new Oak Grill, which sports a 2,100-square-foot deck with al fresco dining; and Aqua lounge, which includes a 360-degree bar and weekly DJ program.

The resort-style pool area was redesigned with a contemporary poolside bar, private cabanas, modern furnishings, and poolside access to the refurbished fitness center. An indoor-outdoor Cabana room now features glass panels opening to a private, heated terrace.

Of the site’s 23,000 square feet of event space, the hotel’s ballroom—the largest in Newport Beach—also saw a total revamp.

Revamped property services include a new text concierge program, the Market Place retail food outlet, and the Island Club, a 2,000-square-foot lounge on the 20th floor.
