Ian Schrager has purchased the iconic 285-key Ambassador East hotel in Chicago, according to GlobeSt.com. Schrager, who says he bought the property for its history and presence, is planning a two-year multimillion-dollar renovation. Four years ago, the hotel was slated to become condos, but those plans never came to fruition. Schrager also says he will probably keep the Ambassador East name.
