Sandals Unveils Eco-Village within Jamaican Resort

Published: November 29, 2011

Sandals Resorts has joined forces with Panasonic for energy-saving technologies at an “eco village” within Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica. The resort’s Cottage 5 uses solar panels to not only harvest energy but also to store it to power other parts of the property. The eco village also features technology such as inverter air conditioners that use up to 60 percent less energy, LED lights, and automatic system control. Over the long-term, Sandals intends to implement similar practices throughout the rest of the resort, as well as to its other properties throughout the Caribbean.
