Because the elevator area is a pass-through space—locals enter the hotel through the back—“we wanted to create a sense of arrival from the backside,” Ellenberger explains. Sculptures and artwork from Imad Bechara and Bechara Studio enliven the original marble and gold-accented floor, while a Lasvit chandelier is informed by ribbons recalling the desert wind.
