MGM Resorts International is preparing to open the $1.3 billion MGM National Harbor resort in Maryland.
Designed by New York-based Studio GAIA, the 24-story, 308-room hotel will offer 234 guestrooms at 400-square-feet with an additional 74 suites—ranging from 600 to 2,000 square feet—as well as a 3,600-square-foot presidential suite.
Interiors will feature a palette of monochromatic earth tones, natural decorative elements, floor-to-ceiling windows, extensive millwork, and artful references to the nearby U.S. capital’s history. Guest baths will also feature millwork but will stand apart with a yacht-inspired design.
Amenities include a 125,000-square-foot casino that will come equipped with slots, table games, and poker; a spa and salon, a 3,000-seat entertainment theater, 18,000 square feet of retail outlets; 27,000 square feet of meeting space; and various F&B options.
To achieve the Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Design (LEED) Gold certification, sustainable elements will be used throughout the property’s interior and exterior including LED lighting and water-saving fixtures.
MGM National Harbor is currently scheduled to open within the second half of next year.
