At a glance: Located at the base of Utah’s portion of the Rocky Mountains, the ski-in/ski-out reimagination of an alpine ski lodge comprises three buildings connected by a separate plaza with interiors that celebrate “traditional mountain offerings but arranged in a way that feels forward looking,” says Michael Fuerstman, cofounder and creative director of Pendry Hotels. To that end, KES Studio principal and founder Kara Smith chose “fabrics that nod to a cozy ski town with a lot of Sherpa upholstery, plaids, bouclé, and fur all spun in a modern way,” she points out. A design standout is the floor-to-ceiling stone- and steel-clad fireplace in the lobby—an unexpected moment that reinvents the traditional lodge concept.
