The snaking passage down into the restaurant became an asset with the addition of a heavy-metal chain chandelier, which drapes from the top of the staircase to the bottom level. To ward off claustrophobia, interesting design elements such as antique Chinese propaganda and Danish caning furniture turn diners’ attention inward. Photography by Edmon Leong
