The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC is in the final phase of a top-to-bottom renovation launched in November, and will reveal the revamp in April.

Chicago-based Gettys is in charge of the $20 million project, which will update all 583 rooms and 74 suites with a relaxed residential design inspired by the hotel’s past. The rooms will include modern amenities and finishes with furnishings of wood, stone, glass, and upholstery in jewel tones. Each hallway features a wainscot of French gray with a grillage pattern above, reminiscent of the property’s original architecture. Guestroom doors stand out with a black lacquer finish.

Rooms will also have a collection of cameo silhouette prints and a signature “wall of fame”a vinyl recreation of the hotel’s guestbook with famous guests’ signatures—behind each bed. Black and white basketweave marble floors contrasted with black-on-plum paisley wall vinyl add a vintage feel.
