Tucked into the mountains of Highlands, North Carolina, Old Edwards Inn and Spa has embarked on an expansion. The hotel will add European-style “Falls Cottages,” designed around a new courtyard with garden landscaping, curving walkways, a rustic special-events building, a new free-form heated mineral pool and whirlpool, and a freestanding stone fireplace on the pool deck. Constructed of native wood and stone by John Lupoli Construction, the cottages feature gas fireplaces, heated marble bathroom floors, and spacious living areas.
