The 39th Annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference took place yesterday, hosted by the New York University School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism at the New York Marriott Marquis. Programming included “The CEOs Check In: A View From the Top,” moderated by Bloomberg TV’s Betty Liu. The panel featured Park Hotels & Resorts chairman and CEO Thomas J. Baltimore, Jr.; AccorHotels chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin; Hyatt Hotels Corporation president and CEO Mark S. Hoplamazian; and Expedia president and CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
The four panelists discussed the rise of the experience economy, the importance of empathy and human engagement to ensure better customer service, and the need for infrastructure investment. “People want time well lived, not money well spent,” Bazin notes.
The panel also highlighted some recent industry innovations that are spurring customer engagement, as well as economic productivity and success.
