New York-based studio Tihany Design has announced the return of Dima Abulhusn, who will now serve as studio director. Mentored by the firm’s namesake, Adam D. Tihany, Abulhusn previously worked as a senior interior architect and project manager for three years before returning to her native Lebanon where she worked in partnership with Unitec Consultants. She will continue to work alongside Tihany and managing partner Alessia Genova in her new role.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to continue empowering our team to their fullest potential, to create design with maximum impact, and for Tihany Design to be the best and most successful in its field,” Abulhusn says. “There is no challenge I savor more than building on success.”
After receiving a bachelor of science in interior architecture from Lebanese American University and a master of architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, Abulhusn began her career in Beirut in 2000 as an interior architect for Pierre Yves Rochon/Dar Al-Handasah. Her portfolio includes a medley of hospitality projects for major brands, including the Lanesborough in London, the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, and Mandarin Oriental projects in Las Vegas and London. “Once Dima immediately grasps the facts and client perspective, her creativity and abstract approach lift thinking beyond the rudimentary to the philosophical,” Tihany adds. “This is what gives interiors a resonating voice.”
