Room & Board obtains B Corp certification
Minneapolis-based furniture retailer Room & Board is now a Certified B Corporation (B Corp). Room & Board and its commercial arm, Room & Board for Business, join a select group of global companies that are certified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. “Since the beginning, Room & Board has considered both people and the planet alongside profit,” says company founder and CEO. “Becoming a B Corp was a natural next step for our company.” Room & Board has been committed to green practices for more than 40 years, now successfully sourcing 85 percent of its wood sustainably and reaching 70 percent renewable electricity usage in stores and operations.
Arteriors appoints John Hart as CEO
Earlier this month, luxury lighting, furniture, and accessories company Arteriors named John Hart as its new CEO. Hart joins Arteriors with 28 years of industry experience, including previous roles at Luminaire (where he was most recently CEO), Scott Group Studio, and Kohler Company. “I’ve had a deep admiration and affinity for the Arteriors brand throughout my career, and it’s truly an honor to be selected for this role,” says Hart. “As I reflect on my tenure in the luxury design space, each facet has provided me with invaluable insight as I embark on this new chapter, and I look forward to the partnership, growth, and success that lies ahead.”
Flokk adds Stylex to its global portfolio
Flokk, a leading European office seating and furniture manufacturer, has acquired American commercial furnishings company Stylex. “Stylex perfectly complements 9to5 Seating, our current U.S.-based brand,” says Lars I. Røiri, CEO of Flokk. “Strong growth for 9to5 Seating combined with the acquisition of Stylex means the U.S. strengthens its position as our biggest market by a substantial margin, creating a balance between Europe and North America and increased diversification for Flokk.” Led by CEO Bruce Golden, Stylex will continue to operate independently with its headquarters and production facility located in New Jersey. The purchase will mark the eighth addition to Flokk’s global portfolio in nine years.
Bernhardt Hospitality launches redesigned website
Bernhardt Hospitality has revealed a new website with a modern design and improved functionality. The site’s new features include enhanced product filters, the ability to create a shopping wishlist, a gallery of the company’s hospitality projects, an overview of its custom furniture program, and the introduction of an in-stock Quick Ship program. “We’re excited and proud to launch this new site for our customers,” says Dallas Chapman, vice president and general manager of Bernhardt Hospitality. “Our goal with this new site, as with everything we do, is to be a great partner in helping our customers create beautiful spaces that are on time and on budget.”
Kravet acquires Caroline Cecil Textiles
Throughout its 100-year history, New York-based fabric company Kravet has bolstered its portfolio with a number of established, high-profile luxury houses—such as G P & J Baker and Donghia—but its just-announced acquisition of Caroline Cecil Textiles marks the first time it has purchased a relatively young, independent fabric company. Kravet plans to group Caroline Cecil with some of the niche European brands that it distributes in the U.S., including Andrew Martin, Lizzo, and MétaphoresIn, according to Business of Home. Cecil, who launched her namesake company in 2015, will join Kravet as creative director of her brand.
Turf Design elevates president Rob Perri
Turf Design, a Chicago-based acoustic solutions company, has promoted president Rob Perri to vice president, architectural specialties – brand companies at Turf’s parent company, Armstrong World Industries. Perri brings more than two decades of experience to his new role. His background spans product innovation, global strategy, and manufacturing at companies like PepsiCo, Sara Lee Corporation, Motorola, Hewlett Packard, and Compact. Since joining Turf in 2018, Perri, who will continue as Turf’s president in addition to his new role, has driven revenue growth of over 400 percent.
