Berlin-based chef Tim Raue has opened Colette, a new brasserie, in the Glockenbach area of Munich. Designed by Berlin-based Bruzkus Batek Architekten, the aesthetic is inspired by famous Parisian brasseries.
Guests enter through a hallway composed of reclaimed industrial windows. Inside, the walls are filled with antique mirrors, below which green leather upholstered seating runs the length of one wall. The seating is joined by small marble tables and original brasserie chairs, which also complement another row of reclaimed seating from a French train. The curved bar features a brass top and timber slats, and the floor features a mosaic that recalls a classic Parisian restaurant.
Historic station lighting lights the bar while in the dining area, purpose-made pendant lamps interpret typical brasserie lighting in a modern way. The predominantly dark color palette includes dark gray walls and black-stained parquet flooring. Guests are offered a wide range of newspapers to read while they eat to recreate the busting bohemian intellectual world of yesteryear.
