The popular confectionary Chunk has added two locations to its portfolio in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both crafted by Dubai-based studio H2R Design, the new bakery and café spaces evoke sleek modernity informed by the brand’s original design.
The larger of the two, Chunk Social, is the newest tenant in the Riyadh Park Mall. Lined with striking terrazzo flooring, the shop conveys a minimalist aesthetic adorned with timber detailing, banquettes, and rattan furniture. Black framed-walls inject a dash of elegance beneath crisp white ceilings and gray textured tiles, while large round light fixtures and track lighting illuminate the dining area. Hanging shelves divide the dining room from the counter, which is clad with concrete micro-topping, black metal, and pervasive glass. Fine mesh rounds out the material palette for extra depth amid the raw composition.
The Chunk outpost in the Diplomatic Quarter, which focuses more on café and takeaway service, features a palette complementary to its predecessors. This location also reinterprets the light boxes featured in the original Chunk bakery with slimmer frames, less reclaimed wood, and more pure neutral materials like concrete micro-toppings and stainless steel.
