The Bedford by Martha Stewart has opened its doors at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
The space was brought to life by ZDS Architecture & Interiors in collaboration with Marquee Brands and the Foxwoods team. Rather than developing a traditional commercial restaurant, the design focuses on translating the intimate feeling of hosting in Stewart’s own home into an immersive dining experience, bringing her signature approach to hospitality into a public dining destination.
Translating Martha Stewart’s historic farmhouse
Conceptually, the Bedford serves as an extension of Stewart’s renowned 1925 farmhouse located in Bedford, New York, where her approach to cooking and entertaining was originally defined.
The interior architecture relies on a clean, atmospheric palette of beige-gray that washes over the space, establishing a cohesive aesthetic across the stone floors, tabletops, upholstered dining chairs, and walls.
An open kitchen displays the culinary action, accented by suspended copper pots and framed with shelving that houses a collection of cookware.
Throughout the main dining room, display cases filled with glassware are strategically placed, serving as functional barriers that enhance the residential feel while guiding guests through the space.
Private dining at the Bedford
A dedicated private dining room introduces a distinct pop of color to the otherwise neutral, stone-hued environment. Here, wainscoting is drenched in rich shades of olive and green, and paired with light brown chairs. The room is anchored by a central fireplace, creating a warmer, intimate look tailored for exclusive gatherings.
The new restaurant, the entrepreneur’s first on the East Coast, follows the 2022 opening of the Bedford by Martha Stewart at Paris Las Vegas.
