Nestled in the heart of Lafayette, California, the Park Bistro & Bar at Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa underwent a transformation led by Rhode Island-based Superette Studio.
The 4,180-square-foot community-focused restaurant now serves as a more intimate dining experience.
Behind the Park’s new design
Superette, led by creative directors Haley Mistler and Sonja Haviland, used the restaurant’s name, the Park, to guide the redesign vision, which is reflected in a palette of rich, verdant greens reminiscent of Parisian parks.
The interiors feature dark green walls, with white acoustic ceilings, wood accents, and rich, dark flooring. The space is brought to life via live plants and a wallpaper mural that envelops diners in a romantic botanical scene.
The bar area
The bar area, a focal point of the room, was reinvigorated with a deep chocolate-black stain and expanded with custom millwork. The back bar was also upgraded with millwork shelving to incorporate an inset TV, replacing two small, outdated ones.
Adjacent to the bar, the bar dining area offers a club-like feel with a large gray brick fireplace, tethering the space in a warm and cozy ambiance. Here, large glass doors open out to the patio, allowing natural light to spill inside.
The space was furnished with luxurious wooden tables and chairs, which were refinished with plush leather seats.
Main dining room and patio
The main dining room, once too bright for an evening ambiance, is now wrapped in deep green and lined with botanical motifs for a more intimate feel. It is further enhanced with new chandeliers and wall sconces that provide a warm glow.
A covered outdoor dining area, lit by string lights in the evening, features bistro chairs, open walls, and a lattice-patterned moss wall.
