Part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, the Mayflower Inn & Spa—a luxe hideaway spread across nearly 58 acres in Washington, Connecticut—has revealed a new look courtesy of New York-based designer Celerie Kemble of Kemble Interiors. The elegant New England property draws inspiration from both Scandinavian and English design influences with a whimsical floral-filled palette and contemporary artwork.
“I’m honored to debut this new style of country living to Mayflower Inn’s loyal guests and future visitors,” says Kemble. “Redefining the New England good life with personality, color, and a contemporary sensibility, the inn is a playful, energetic and comfortable home away from home, while remaining true to its colonial revival roots.” Much of the interior is populated by handcrafted ceramics, wicker furniture, as well as Turkish rugs, sisal carpets, and modern accents.
Each of Mayflower’s 30 guestrooms are anchored by signature four-poster beds alongside crystal lamps and colorful textiles to further promote a sense of contemporary country living. Onsite F&B options include the laidback Tap Room and the Garden Room, an upscale concept from chef-in-residence April Bloomfield. The aesthetic of the latter pulls inspiration from the outdoors, complete with a large-scale floral mural and pervasive greenery. Additional amenities include a library, indoor pool, and the high-end Huntress boutique.
The property also hosts ample outdoor space to accommodate social distancing via a hike through nature or sunbathing in a lounger by the outdoor pool. The 20,000-square-foot Spa at the Mayflower offers open-air massages surrounded by nature for a unique health-conscious experience, while the 3,500-square-foot Sperry Tent, handcrafted with sailcloth, provides an outdoor venue against a manicured natural backdrop.
