Eco-focused hospitality group Habitas is set to launch its latest concept, Caravan by Habitas, this month in the AlUla region of northwest Saudi Arabia. Set against a Bedouin backdrop, the immersive glamping experience aims to foster human connection with a minimal environmental impact.
“We are excited to expand our brand in a new direction and to offer a new type of experience. We invite people to come on an adventure, to play in raw nature,” says Habitas cofounder and CEO Oliver Ripley. “We chose AlUla—one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula—as our first outpost for this new, immersive concept for its history, culture, and natural heritage. We hope that our Caravan concept will provide travelers with a unique way to discover new and untapped destinations around the world, in nature, and activating unique and experiential accommodation.”
A total of 22 chicly appointed airstream trailers will form a U-shaped campsite, where a communal gathering tent featuring colorful, artisanal interiors reminiscent of traditional Saudi residential design will serve as the nucleus. Each of the airstreams, which will span queen or dual single-bed configurations, will be equipped with their own private deck, indoor lounge, kitchenette, and bathroom as well.
Amenities like a game room, library, outdoor cinema, and yoga deck will be featured, as well as a trio of food trucks and a family-style dining area populated with communal tables and cushioned seating.
