The Fairmont Olympic hotel in Seattle is set to unveil the restoration of its lobby and other public spaces on Friday. Spain-based design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán (LRV) is spearheading the comprehensive $25 million upgrade—the hotel’s largest renovation project in 40 years—while Parker-Torres Design contributed to the redesign of onsite meeting rooms. The first chapter of the hotel’s renovation pays homage to the Fairmont Olympic’s storied grandeur while also forecasting a new vision for Seattle via a design narrative woven with subtle references to classic themes, textures, and materials.
“We always wanted our design to bring back the glorious days of Fairmont Olympic. Our vision has always been to restore the elegant and sophisticated atmosphere seen in old pictures, yet refreshed with some light-hearted updates,” says LRV founder Lázaro Rosa-Violán.
At the heart of the updated lobby, the Olympic Bar will again serve as a key social hub with a classic, clean aesthetic that sets a bold tone for the historic property. Glittering details add a dash of ageless sophistication to the space, while a kinetic art installation suspended from the ceiling injects a sense of whimsy that nods to the aristocratic adventures once seen at the hotel, as well as Seattle’s tech masters of tomorrow.
