Accor Hotels has revealed plans to bring the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts brand to Australia with the launch of the Fairmont Port Douglas in Far North Queensland. Slated to debut in 2023, the sustainable new-build will occupy a coastal stretch of land that borders two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest.
Home to 253 accommodations, the forthcoming property will blend a high standard of glamour with sustainable design, including an organic architecture plan with abundant green spaces and natural light. The design will also reinforce the influence of surrounding nature, with butterfly net accents, verdant tropical gardens, and an intimate lobby reminiscent of a bird’s nest. Resort-style pools will seamlessly mix with the Australian landscape as well. Additional amenities will include a day spa, treetop walk, panoramic conference facilities, and several restaurants and bars.
