Hospitality and real estate development companies Sandstone and Formwork recently launched Hotel Henrietta, a five-story, 40-room boutique hotel in the heart of uptown New Orleans.
The 34,000-square-foot building stands as the first ground-up hotel project in 30 years on the historic Uptown stretch of the major St. Charles Avenue thoroughfare.
An extension of Sandstone’s nearby Columns hotel, Hotel Henrietta includes a range of guestroom layouts, many with in-room kitchenettes and extra hosting space, along with balconies on every floor.
Hotel Henrietta’s fresh take on history
With architecture and interior design led by locally based Farouki Farouki, the hotel employs a fresh take on the neighborhood’s historic architecture, with stepped arched openings, oversized balconies, and an eclectic mix of custom furniture.
Upon entry, guests are invited into a reception area where a large marble island serves as the check-in desk, café counter, and cocktail bar. This space opens up into a lobby with a wood ceiling, decorative millwork, and multiple seating areas with upholstered banquettes.
The space is layered with vintage and commissioned art pieces from both local and global makers. An adjacent colonnaded front porch and terrace offers outdoor seating and two fire pits as well.
Accommodations at Hotel Henrietta
Guestroom layouts range from kings and double queens to spacious suites that can be conjoined for larger groups.
Each room is crafted with a sophisticated touch, with a color palette inspired by historic mosaic tiles at Columns, paired with custom millwork, velvet headboards, and banquettes. Oversized showers and marble tile create a luxurious feel in bathrooms, too.
The hotel is also partnering with local bakery Flour Moon Bagels for an onsite concept.
