The 144-key Hotel Kansas City is set to join Hyatt’s Unbound Collection this fall, housed within the 15-story Kansas City Club building. Chicago-based Simeone Deary Design Group will spearhead the revamp of the city landmark with a new design narrative that conveys the story of the historic site, as well as the timeless grit and grace of the city. A communal warmth will also characterize the new scheme in homage to the building’s legacy as a private club.
A palette of natural wood, yellow stones, and jewel tones will create a classic yet spirited atmosphere, accenting the structure’s Gothic Revival flair. Existing details, like stained glass windows, will be preserved in tandem with original chandeliers in the rooftop event space. Home to more than 20,000 square feet of onsite event space, Hotel Kansas City will also feature a spacious grand ballroom. In addition to a street-level coffee bar, F&B options will include the cellar saloon El Gold and the stately Midwest-inspired eatery the Town Company.
Victorian-inspired guestrooms will meld a classic aesthetic with unconventional twists, like bathroom double doors reminiscent of an armoire, drapery resembling the neckline of a dress, and lamps that recall the form of a hoop skirt. Soft feminine shapes will offset the antique masculine forms of the club’s architecture as well.
