The San Francisco office of Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) has completed the third and final phase of the Houston Marriott Medical Center/Museum District’s multimillion-dollar renovation. The 398-room property received a comprehensive facelift that prioritizes wellness and renewal. “The foremost intention of our design was to imbue this important hotel located within Houston’s esteemed Medical District with a modern update, tempered with all the nuances of making a space welcoming, warm, soothing, and healing,” says HBA San Francisco design partner Meghann Day. “Nature is such a curative concept, and we achieved our mission by utilizing color and texture to strengthen the function and flow of the spaces.”
A fresh contemporary ethos permeates the interiors with clean lines and lighting upgrades that supports a sense of openness in the lobby. Abundant natural light pours into the three-story atrium to further amplify a restorative quality across various seating enclaves spanning the hotel’s public spaces.
A pair of new F&B spaces have opened onsite, including the Lone Star-inspired Curate and modern all-day concept Main & Green. The Oak Room has also debuted as a new event space, equipped to host 10 to 30 people, while the new M Club arrives as a sophisticated 24-hour lounge. The revamped fitness center comprises amenities like a heated indoor pool, hot tub, and a redesigned outdoor sundeck populated with lounge chairs and gaming.
