Hyatt is growing the footprint of its Thompson Hotels brand with the rollout of six new properties through 2023. The boutique lifestyle brand is set to launch two units in Georgia and four in Texas.
November 2020 will herald the debut of two new hotels in the Lone Star State: Thompson Dallas and Thompson San Antonio. Slated to open as part of the redevelopment of the 52-story First National Bank Tower, the 219-room property in Dallas will feature a design by local firm Merriman Anderson Architects that accentuates the original midcentury interiors, while introducing new contemporary furniture and local artwork. An observation deck will be featured on the 50th floor, along with two rooftop bar and restaurant concepts, a fitness center, spa, and more than 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space. And the new San Antonio outpost will house 162 accommodations, including 28 suites, that overlook the city’s vibrant Arts District, and Houston-based Powers Brown Architecture and Guadalajara-based interior design studio Amass & G are collaborating on the hotel’s interiors. Onsite amenities include a spa, rooftop bar, and more than 5,000 square feet of interior event space.

Thompson will further expand in mid-2021 with the arrival of the Thompson Austin. The brutalist modern structure will be outfitted by bKL Architecture with polished stone and blackened steel, while interiors executed by Simeone Deary Design Group will contrast the raw design with lush greenery, soft leathers, and other tactile materials. Additionally, New York-based Parts and Labor Design will design the 212-room hotel’s restaurant. Also opening in summer 2021, the Thompson Savannah will merge a historic architectural flair with a contemporary vibrancy. Part of the mixed-used Eastern Wharf project, the 193-room property will be crafted by Dallas-based Studio 11 Design with elements like parquet tile flooring in the lobby, and rich jewel tones and botanical patterns in common spaces and guestrooms. The brand’s Georgia footprint will continue to grow in 2021 with the arrival of the Thompson Buckhead near the end of the year. Also designed by Studio 11, the hotel will be conceived akin to an upscale residence, with an intimate jewel box-style bar, abundant greenery, and a spacious contemporary lobby. Chevron-patterned floors will span the interior of the 201-room property, which will include a lobby bar and restaurant, an indoor-outdoor rooftop bar and lounge, and more than 10,000 square feet of event space.
Finally, in 2023, the 170-room Thompson Houston will open in downtown Houston as part of the mixed-use Allen development.
