The Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is poised to open in late April 2023 in the heart of downtown Tempe, Arizona. Featuring a design from Monogram at BBGM, the $125 million project will open as part of an investment between Arizona State University (ASU) and the City of Tempe.
The interplay of light and shadow is a key motif of the interior design, which will reflect local culture and landscapes. Rich copper tones that echo the sun will contrast cool concrete that, reinforced by large ceiling elements, will recall the shaded areas of the Tempe Buttes. “The contrast is an instant relief both physically and emotionally,” says Omni’s senior design manager Amy Humble.
Natural landmarks, like the Salt River, will also be channeled via refreshing cool tones offset by rich leather and copper evocative of the Hohokam history. The lobby bar will also draw inspiration from the region’s heritage as a haven for seekers and treasure hunters with motifs that nod to the ancient ditch and canal systems. The landscape will again be reinforced at Lucero, a sophisticated rooftop lounge, as well.
Additional amenities at Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU will include approximately 36,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including a 15,000-square-foot ballroom.
