On the heels of Hotel Bardo‘s debut, Left Lane continues its expansion in Savannah, Georgia. The company is now transforming the historic Manger Building into the Recess Hotel & Club.
The Manger Building was built as Hotel Savannah in 1912, before becoming the Manger Hotel in 1954 then converting to an office building in the late ’70s. It will serve its original purpose once again upon opening as Recess in early 2026.
The 221-key lifestyle hotel and clubhouse will be home to coworking spaces, a rooftop pool and bar, circuit-based spa and fitness facility, two-story event space, classic French brasserie, and more.
Public spaces at Recess Hotel & Club
Designed in collaboration with Atelier Pond, the interiors of Recess Hotel will follow a retro-futurist narrative via tactile elements like natural wood, marble, and tile.
The heart of Recess is its clubhouse spaces, which will occupy multiple levels connected by a decorative central staircase.
The property will also house four dining venues, including French brasserie Le Flâneur; the Servery, a hidden gem with to-go options; the Lobby Bar; and Kilter, a rooftop pool and garden oasis.
Additionally, the Annex will be a 6,500-square-foot, two-story event space that doubles as a clubhouse for gathering and features an open-kitchen concept, Coterie.
The guest experience
With 136 guestrooms, 23 suites, and 62 bunk rooms, the property will also feature a Rumpus Room—a communal space for socialization with lounge seating, TVs, and vending machines—on each guest floor.
Saltgrass at Recess
Left Lane’s wellness brand, Saltgrass, will also set up shop at Recess. The expansive space will include a biohacking lounge, sound temple, steam room, sauna, cold plunge, along with a fitness facility and activities studio.
“We are driven by a commitment to the community and each of our hotel’s respective histories, striving to deliver nostalgic, layered spaces that inspire exploration and offer an authentic sense of place,” says Jon Kully, managing partner at Left Lane. “We’re building Recess as a magnetic cultural hub where the local community and travelers can create and find real-life connection in their very own clubhouse.”
