Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) has launched a multimillion-dollar investment program that will reinvent several of its 14 North American properties, including the Millennium Hotel Durham in North Carolina.
The 316-key property is located near Duke University, Duke University Hospital, and Research Triangle Park.
Scheduled to begin this winter, the $10.8 million renovation will wrap up next spring and include all of the site’s guestrooms and public spaces.
Accommodations will be modernized with new furnishings and carpeting, soft lighting, dark wood elements, accent walls, and upgraded guest baths.
Public spaces will also be refreshed with new furniture, lighting, and carpeting, while the building’s exterior will receive a total revamp. Property art will take cues from the nearby university campus.
Amenities include an indoor pool, a whirlpool, workout room, 16,000 square feet of meeting space that includes two ballrooms, and two F&B outlets—Bel Gusto and the Varsity Lounge & Grill.
The Durham property is the sixth U.S. Millennium-branded hotel that has been scheduled for updates in the past two years. Additionally renovated MHR properties include Millennium Hotel Minneapolis, Millennium Harvest House Boulder in Colorado, and the Lakefront Anchorage in Alaska. MHR also recently acquired the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool, England.
